IMPALA - Introduction
IMPALA (International MHEG Promotion Alliance) is a not-for-profit industry organisation set up to promote MHEG-5 on an international basis. It is designed to assist its members and others to supply this technology in a competitive market.
IMPALA currently allows for two classes of membership: Promoters and Supporters. Promoter members must be suppliers of MHEG and supporting technology who aim to promote the use of the technology. Promoter members are asked to share the costs of operation of the organisation and also to manage the organisation and answer requests for information. MHEG suppliers who are Promoter members must have independently certified conformance to UK Profile 1.06 for MHEG engines or applications, as appropriate.
Supporter members are those who utilise MHEG in receivers, broadcasts and elsewhere, and who are, by being Supporter members, indicating approval of the technology or willingness to supply goods and services to markets using it. Supporter members will incur no direct costs, but will be asked to allow their branding and relevant links to appear on the IMPALA website and other promotional material.
The initial Promoters are Strategy & Technology, Cabot Communications and EchoStar Europe with a wide range of Supporter Members.
